What is the Mystery Chip?

At the start of the season FPL launched a brand new Mystery Chip that was set to be revealed during the season.

Well the time has arrived, the chip has finally been announced as an Assistant Manager Chip which will be activated from gameweek 24 onwards. With this gameweek fast approaching it is time to discuss this chip.

When the chip is activated, your squad will not only contain your chosen 15 players but will allow you to select one of the 20 managers in the league with the remaining amount of your budget, they will help earn your team points for 3 consecutive gameweeks.

What does the Mystery Chip do?

The Assistant Manager grants you access to one of the 20 managers for 3 consecutive gameweeks, they will score additional points that will be combined with your points from your 11 players from that week. The point system is:

6 points for each win

3 points for each draw

2 points for a clean sheet

1 point for every goal

This could be an essential way to boost your team further up the leagues, as a 1-0 win from any manager will score 9 points and there is a potential to achieve that score 3 times in a row.

Picking the top team's manager may be a way of gaining consistent and stable points through this chip.

However, the opportunity to gain further points arises if you pick a manager who faces a team ranked 5 places higher in the league at the start of the gameweek. With a great risk like this, comes great rewards.

You could potentially earn 10 extra points for a win, making the total 16, or 5 extra points for a draw so 8 in total.

The question of whether to pick a manager at the top of the table and hope for stability or to gamble and take a chance on a lower team is entirely down to you.

Stay tuned for tips and tricks of when to use this chip
