Deeside Dragons faced a double-header against league winners, Billingham Stars, resulting in 2 unfortunate losses for the Dragons.
The first of the two encounters took place in Deeside, where the Dragons started with an impressive 2-0 lead over the visitors in the span of 5 minutes, their hopes at beating the reigning champions strong.
The goals came from Alex Parry and James Parsons for the home side, with assists being credited to Charles Phillips, Ross Kennedy and Jacob Witkowski.
However, Billingham pulled a goal back within the first minute of the second period, as Rolands Gritans snuck the puck past the hosts with passes from both James Moss and James Helens.
The Stars continued their fight back into the game as Iain Brown found the target, minutes before the second period ended.
The league champions extended their lead in the final third with Michael Elder, Iain Brown and Callum Wilkinson adding to the score sheet. Ending the game 2-6 to Billingham, securing the first of their 2 victories against Deeside.
The second encounter happened at Billingham Forum, where the Stars showed dominance throughout the match, with a 14-5 victory for the champions.
By the first break the hosts were 4-1 up, Conner McNulty opened up the scoring for the home side in the 8th minute.
Lucas Dowdle fired a Shaun Galloway rebound into the back of the net, less than 2 minutes after their previous goal. Witkowski pulled a goal back in the 13th minute.
Despite the Dragon's best efforts to re-enter the game, Billingham excelled ahead as Brown, Moss, Galloway, Chris Sykes and Darren Stattersfield extended their tallies on the score sheet. While the goals for Deeside belonged to Jared Dickinson, Garry Simpson, Charles Phillips and Witkowski.
The game ending in 14-5 highlighted Billingham's dominance, making this 32 wins out of 35 league matches played.
